Michelle Obama Repeats Dresses
Michelle Obama has quickly become a fashion icon once she stepped up to the plate as First Lady. She has tons of women, regardless of age, looking up to her. Whatever she puts on, sells out immediately. We love how she mixes expensive designer pieces with inexpensive, accessible clothes. I believe everyone applauds her for repeatedly wearing the same dresses publicly in front of the entire world. The three dresses below are a tiny portion of all the pieces shes recycled. While re-wearing her dresses, she alters them someway by taking it to a seamstress, or just simply changes her hair style and adding different accessories. She first wore this black Michael Kors asymmetrical gown to a White House dinner and accented her waist with a swooping gold belt and drop earrings. She then later wore the same Michael Kors dress to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation 42nd Annual Legislative Conference with a bedazzled, crystal studded belt. Same dress, two different looks.
Our favorite look is when Mrs. Obama wore this brown Derek Lam dress to a dinner in Indonesia that had 3/4 length sleeves and a cinched waist. She later wore the same exact dress to the National Design Awards except the sleeves were missing this time. She altered the dress from what it originally was by chopping off the sleeves completely and flaunted her incredibly toned bare arms. She styled the sleeved dress with a statement necklace but loved it way more the second time without it. The style of her hair and the matching drop earrings were perfect with this sleeveless number. What do you think of Michelle Obama recycling her dresses?
