Lara Designs is a family owned manufacturing dress company based out of New York City’s fashion district. From celebrities wearing their dresses, to opening their new showroom in London, Lara Designs has been successfully moving up in the fashion scene rapidly. We were able to ask the close family of four a few interview questions to get to know them a little bit better.

1. What do you specialize in?

Our goal at Lara Design is to provide dresses for all the big events in a woman’s life. Whether that event is Prom or Graduation or even her daughter’s wedding. We want to be able to give her great quality dresses at very reasonable prices for every occasion.

 2. How does it feel to have a family-owned business?

As you know, Lara Design is run by a tight-knit family of four. We all work very closely together and everyone has an opinion. It helps in the decision process to have a few opinions.

3. Why did you decide to open a showroom in London?

Opening our showroom in London was a great opportunity. We saw a market where our dresses would fit in perfectly and decided it was a good move for us. It has definitely provided more exposure and we couldn’t be happier with the decision.

4. How did you feel when you saw your dresses on shows such as SNL and The Price is Right?

We have a friend who is a stylist for NBC and CBS. He is always looking for cute dresses to showcase on the shows. Our biggest highlight was when Scarlett Johansson wore our dress on a SNL skit. It was one of the greatest feelings in the world.

5. Tell us a little bit about on of your most popular designs (Lara 31001)?

Every woman wishes she had a little Hollywood glamor in her life. So we decided to take inspiration from Mila Kunis’s gorgeous Oscars dress and bring some of that glamor to the lives of woman across America. It was my favorite dress that whole year and I’m so glad we could share it with everyone.

6. What should we expect from you next season?

There’s a little bit of everything from us next season. We are doing some fun and daring dresses but also doing some modest and elegant cocktail dresses. Beaded embellishments, printed fabrics and lace are a big trend and we are doing lots of it. There’s a dress for everyone in our Fall 2012 collection. 

7. Which dress is your favorite dress and why?

My personal favorite dress hasn’t even been released yet! It’s a beautiful turquoise dress for next season (style 32043). With gorgeous lace detail and just a touch of sparkle I can’t wait for everyone to see it!
