Shail K is the most recent and upcoming special occasion dress designer. With their new line launching this season, we instantly knew it was necessary for DressEmpire.com to have the first exclusive interview with Shail K. They are known for their short, fun and flirty sequin dresses which we love for cocktail parties, homecoming, and New Years.

1. What inspires your designs?
I see a bold use of colors and jewel tones as an inspiration to create smashing glamorous dresses. I always like my dresses to be very feminine even with the use of bold colors to play with and intricate beading on every piece. I think there is a special element to every piece of clothing when it is handmade. Eighty percent of my dresses are handmade, one piece at a time. A lot of artistic work and finesse goes into creating every piece. They are made with pure silk. All of this is very inspirational for me.

2. What are some of your favorite pieces from your collection this season?
Although I like all my designs, my top favorites are KK3162 and KK3133L. A few styles that are almost my favorite are the KK3815 and KK3163, which are featured below.

3. What message through your designs do you want to get across?
I want every woman to look and feel beautiful no matter what size she is. I pay special attention to the way my dresses taper around a woman’s body to make her look and feel her best.  Every woman should feel like a celebrity when she wears any of Shail K’s styles.

4. If you could describe Shail K. in three words, what would they be?
Contemporary, rockstar, and very feminine.

5. Where do you see Shail K. 10 years from now in the fashion industry?
I see Shail K. as a leading manufacturer of special occasion dresses. Shail K. will continue to put out new styles and trends every season and at the same time Shail K. will be an important part of the community by giving back into causes that help women become independent. One that will teach them about following their dreams to obtain the career they want for themselves.

6. What trends are you embracing this season?
Shail K.  is using a lot of bling with hues of gold, platinum, red, emerald, vivid blues, and deep jewel tones for short dresses.  For evening wear, Shail K. is using soft pastels in shades of silvery soft blue tones and soft blush pink tones to create gowns that are fabulously feminine and old Hollywood sexy.
